Second: Some thoughts as we are in the off season:
1) Play a Fall Sport. If you are not playing Football or Soccer, run Cross Country. You need to come into the season in shape and the fall sports will build a good base of strength and endurance for the season.
2) Purchase Head Gear, Lock, Knee Pads, & Wrestling Shoes. The school will provide a singlet for the meets. You are responsible for your headgear, knee pads, lock, and wrestling shoes. You will need all these for the first day of practice as we will get on the mats day one. They can be found at Dicks Sporting Goods or EastBay. Some also like to get tights or sweat pants as they reduce the contact of skin with the mats. An 18’’ x 6” Foam Roller Online or at Target. The locker room lock is for the protection of your own materials.
3) Have your physical, concussion form, and online registration completed.
4) Read the articles at Sportspectator.com. It spells out the basic rules behind wrestling, for both new wrestlers and parents/spectators.
